Why Cambridge (CAIE)

The Gera School is affiliated to the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE), a body certified by the University of Cambridge, enjoying an 800-year legacy. This UK-based academic program has well-researched academic milestones that combine the local and global perspective with well-defined frameworks for learning, namely - Cambridge Primary, Cambridge Secondary, The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and A-levels.
The Cambridge curriculum in India has been recognized as a quality educational partner to schools, ensuring that students taking the Grade X IGCSE examinations or the Grade XII A-level examinations, ease into any national or international college or university in India or overseas. For more information about the acceptability of Cambridge in India, please visit the website – www.cambridgeinternational.org
Students are offered a wide array of subjects to choose from and assessments are based on logic and reasoning, forming the perfect foundation to enable students to do well in future entrance examinations they may be required to take.

Learning at TGS

TGS offers an international curriculum of high standards while drawing inspiration from the rich experiences that life in India provides.  Our academic curriculum is designed to foster a sense of responsibility, critical thinking and reasoning, global awareness and civic engagement among our students, thus preparing them to be citizens of the 21st century.

Our teaching is:

  • Activity-based
  • Experiential
  • Interactive
  • Thematic
  • Inquiry-based
  • Customized
  • Project-based
  • Designed to enable students to apply their learning

Every child is led towards self-actualisation with a variety of challenging but enjoyable learning experiences in and out of the classroom. We combine the rich Cambridge curriculum framework with a practical and hands-on programme of differentiation for students, enabling them to take ownership and responsibility for their class-work, home-work and assessments which are periodically conducted as part of our “Checking for Understanding” philosophy at TGS.

The Early Learning Years

Nursery to Upper K.G. (Ages 3 to 5 years)

Transitioning children from pre-schools to the Primary and then the High school environment is a seamless process for us at TGS as we specialize in “settling” these young ones into the world of formal school education with comfort and ease. The curriculum in the Early Years, therefore, is to focus on an inquiry-based learning methodology enriched with Cambridge Primary learning objectives. These initial years must be nurtured with care and precision to made it a strong foundation for the Primary Years and we at TGS recognize its importance and significance.

The Primary Years

Grades I to IV (Ages 6 to 9 years)

Enabling Early Years students to integrate with Primary Years in a manner that is comfortable and settling is a priority for us at TGS. These Primary Years embrace the well-planned Cambridge Primary Curriculum frameworks, continuing to work with the inquiry-based approach, combining local culture and global perspectives as a program of inquiry and application for students. At TGS, the Primary Years form the core foundation for skills development and sound understanding of concepts.
The subject focus areas include Languages (English as well as regional, national and foreign Languages), Math, Sciences (Social Sciences and Combined Sciences), Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

The Middle & Secondary School Years

Grades V to X (Ages 10 to 15 years)

Middle and Secondary Years are huge foundational years for students at TGS. These important milestone years facilitate a detailed and deeper understanding through Cambridge Secondary frameworks culminating in the Grade X IGCSE examinations.
The subject focus includes (but is not limited to) Languages – English, national as well as international languages, Math, Sciences (Physics, Chemistry & Biology), Social Sciences (History & Geography), ICT, Business Studies and Economics.
These academic subjects combined with a range of life skills and co-curricular activities through the Middle Years Program extend the foundation built in the earlier years.

The High School Years

Grades XI to XII (Ages 16 to 17 years)

The Advanced program of the Cambridge – A levels, builds on the foundation of the Middle & Secondary School Years. These culminating years of the High School program allow for students to select their area of specialization in three broad areas – Arts, Commerce & Science and yet unlike traditional programs that do not allow subject flexibility, A levels allow students to also select subjects that may interest them but may never become their area of specialization eventually. This builds a solid foundation for life in Junior Colleges in India or Universities aboard.
The academic subjects include English, the Sciences, Arts & Humanities, and Math.
The Life Skills programme and co-curricular activities continue as extensions of the earlier years.
